A unique opportunity for a System specialist who’s able to oversee the big picture and aspires to lead the creative Architecture process for a range of products within the Business Unit X-ray for Philips Healthcare in Best. We are looking for a generalist with extensive experience in large scale technical projects when it comes to devices. Medical Imaging knowledge is preferred but not mandatory.

Within Philips Healthcare in Best, the Business Unit Interventional X-Ray is responsible for marketing, service, development and manufacturing of interventional X-ray systems used in the area of cardiac or vascular medical diagnosis and intervention (e.g. a “dotter” treatment). The customers are hospitals and their medical specialists. New product development projects are typically larger than 20 man-years and contain software, (digital) electronics and mechatronics components.
Within the iXR R&D organisation the iXR System Design department is responsible for the requirements capturing of the iXR products, their architecture, and for the accompanying technology roadmaps. System Architects are responsible for the X-ray imaging products and cover a wide area in Image Processing, Motion Control, Data Acquisition, Back End (viewing, patient administration, network connectivity) and 3D solutions. The department (55 employees in total) consists of highly educated enthusiastic professional system architects and system specialists with a very open and informal atmosphere. All developments take place in multidisciplinary projects, and follow a mature development process
Key elements of the system designer responsibilities:
• Leads the creative process of the architecture of a product range
• Contributes to the innovation of products, processes and procedures
○ Leads technical pre-studies
○ Delivers according to the pre-study charter
• Is responsible for the technology roadmap of the development group
○ Makes an inventory of the technology options
○ Defines, maintains and deploys technology roadmaps and indicates long-term expectations on developments within the application area of the development group in close cooperation with the business architect
• Is responsible for the requirements of the whole development group portfolio
○ Elicits and analyses the stakeholder requirements
○ Prepares proposals and alternatives, guiding towards optimum balance of short- & long-term requirements, for discussion with major stakeholders.
○ Specifies the requirements of a project, which serves as contract for the project’s WHAT will be delivered, with focus on ‘good-is-good-enough’
○ Manages the safety risks en security risks
• Is responsible for the (sub)system architecture
○ Creates the product architecture in a modular, easy to maintain and extendible components and modules, and guards and manages the architecture
○ Defines and details the product architecture, to the level that it can be realized by project teams
- Detects common architectural and functional components in order to enable reuse and maintainability
- Implements the constraints that originate from legacy and relevant ‘ilities’
- Discusses, deploys and attunes solutions with the project stakeholders
- Determines and manages the external and internal interfaces framework in cooperation with all interface stakeholders
• Monitors and manages that the architecture is understood and used correctly by all stakeholders
• Advises on internal development or outsourcing
• Advises on realization, planning and budgets
• Obtain and maintains internal and external network for knowledge build-up
Job Requirements: Technical skills and experience

• Substantial experience as system designer or architect
• Able to reach a solution within a complex and very often conflicting business requirements.
• University education in technical engineering as SW, Physics, Mathematics, Electronics, etc.
• Understanding of the business strategy and development
• Understanding of the related business disciplines, like application, manufacturing, supply chain, etc.
• Experienced in technical leadership
